灯願華 ~ NUL.

NUL.

Higanbana {Flower of the Light of Hope*}
by NUL.

Souls passing across the boundary line,
It feels like burying the hearts left behind

A lovely, pretty blue

Sorrow is something that will one day fade,
But I hate the world that drove you away

Even so, a lovely blue

Simply spilling out senselessly, would the seeds of my wishes fly
On the fickle wind, sending them to you

Abruptly you seemed different, in a world that pressured and questioned,
Nowhere to go, no end in sight,
Unable to even convey it,
Just like you, who disappeared so suddenly

Simply spilling out senselessly, would the seeds of my wishes fly
On the fickle wind, sending them to you

Separating and drawing close, this dream that changed and came to an end,
Losing and destroying, we did nothing but make mistakes,
Loving someone and each time I hurt them realizing something important,
Feeling sorry and hesitating, now that I’ve repeated those regrets,
I’ll surely be able to convey my love more deeply than yesterday,
One day I’ll also be able to love this world you lived in

* Higanbana actually means spider lily, but the flower’s name is typically written 彼岸花. The song’s title uses different kanji with the same readings [灯 “lamp/light”, 願 “wish/hope” and 華 “splendor/flower”] to covey a double meaning. In Japan spider lilies are usually red in color, poisonous, and associated with death.
