冥合 ~ DEAD END

「冥合」
DEAD END

‘Meigo’ {‘Unconscious Fuse’}
by DEAD END

Now that I no longer wander
the rain of blood is ceasing too
This overflowing soul
cannot return only to you

Melting away, turning to darkness
inside your dream

I won’t ever turn back
at the end of my dream there is only you

Fading away as a falling star
glittering in the dark

Yes, I only ask to wake in darkness
Ah, I’m dreaming, that’s all
I’ll never deceive again
Ah, I’m dreaming

Farewell, joy
Farewell, sorrow

Yes, I only ask to wake in darkness
Ah, I’m dreaming, that’s all
I’ll never deceive again
Ah, I’m dreaming

There are no such things as illusions
There are no such things as true colors
I won’t turn back

Trembling even in dreams
I only go crazy for you
Freezing even in dreams
a distant retreating figure

A perfect crime over ten billion years
Reconfiguring as a pure soul
Becoming entirely transparent by returning to the womb
Severing the boundary line with body and soul
A perfect crime over ten billion years
Reconfiguring as a pure soul
Becoming entirely transparent by returning to the womb
Severing the boundary line with body and soul

Trembling even in dreams
I only go crazy for you
freezing even in dreams
a distant retreating figure

I embrace you
and there is light here
Embraced by you
I become darkness……

  1. Thankyou so much antares.
I was checking back here quite often but thought
you had given up on the site for awhile. I’m so happy
to read this as it’s one of the best jrock songs of the
    last five years for me.

How does Morrie do it? His lyrics are so good and original.
I don’t think anyone can write like him. His lyrics are so dark
but he really means them. Not like others who pretend to have
that mysterious dark side in their work. His writing even sometimes seems better than his work with Dead End in the 80’s.

What I wonder though is what ‘meigou’ means? You have it as
    {‘Unconscious Fuse’}
but I’ve seen it as Ultimare Fuse before too. So what exactly is that? A fuse into what? When I listen to this it sounds like Morrie is singing about a life or a journey. Such beauty.

    Eitherway thankyou Antares!!! ^_^

  2. Ah, yeah sorry my posting’s been irregular for the past few months. I’m working full time now so I have far less time to translate and I’m often tired when I come home. I have no intention of giving up on the site but if for some reason I ever did, I would definitely make an announcement cause I know how annoying it is when blog writers just vanish forever without a word.

“Ultimate Fuse” isn’t a bad translation of the title, but it does take some liberty in stretching the meaning of it. I don’t know if you know any Japanese, but「冥合」(read meigo or myogou) is defined in my Japanese dictionary as「知らず知らずのうちに、一つに合すること」which means “to become one unconsciously, unwittingly, or unawares”. So basically to become one without realizing it’s happening. In that way you can interpret the title as “ultimate” but I wanted to express the unknowing element of it.

I can’t say I understand the full meaning of the song, but from what I gather the fuse is between the singer and the “you” he sings about. I think maybe without noticing he’s become one with this person to an extent that there’s also a dark, tragic side to the relationship.

Thanks for reading (and not giving up on the blog when I didn’t post for a long time)!

  3. Yeah, they way you translated the name sounds better. When I read Ultimate Fuse I thought it doesn’t really make sense. I even used a Japanese online dictionary trying to figure out it’s meaning.
I guess it’s one of those Japanese things where it’s kind of hard to express in English.

It seems like Morrie touches on reincarnation in one verse too.
    My favorite line here is
“Yes, I only ask to wake in darkness”.
Most people would be singing about the light or finding hope but I just really love how haunting that line is. I wish he had sung the chorus’ in English. He’s put less and less English into Creature Creature and Dead End then he used to lately😦

The scream he does at the end that like fading scream mixed in with the guitar makes me think of possibly his/her life ending or his ‘soul’ becoming one/returning to the universe. Naturally since the song is almost 10 minutes long I get the feeling of like Morrie telling almost a life story or moment in time. Some of YOU’s guitar sounds like a clock ticking or a passage of time flowing… It really is a deep song. Sorry for the long comment lol

Good luck with the full time. Even though it means less activity I’m sure your website will hold up fine and still draw new readers too😄
