PUNK SCREW ver.~ ~ SCREW

‘Ookina Furudokei ~PUNK SCREW ver.~’
{‘Grandfather Clock ~PUNK SCREW ver.~’}*
by SCREW (originally by Hirai Ken)

A large, tall clock,
My grandfather’s clock,
For a hundred years it was always running,
the clock he was so proud of,
The clock that was bought
on the morning grandfather was born,
Now that clock will run no more

For a hundred years without rest,
Tick-tock, tick-tock
Together with grandfather,
Tick-tock, tick-tock
Now that clock will run no more

The old clock that knows everything,
My grandfather’s clock,
When his beautiful bride arrived
it was running that day too,
Both happy things and sad things,
the clock knows them all,
Now that clock will run no more

Both happy things and sad things,
the clock knows them all,
Now that clock will run no more

At midnight the bell of
my grandfather’s clock rang,
informing all that the
time of parting had come,
Grandfather who ascended to heaven
had to part with his clock too,
Now that clock will run no more

For a hundred years without rest,
Tick-tock, tick-tock
Together with grandfather,
Tick-tock, tick-tock
Now that clock will run no more
Now that clock will run no more

* The title literally means “big old clock” but that sounds kind of silly as a title, so I went with the conventional translation of the title that’s based on the content.
