‘Kowarete Iku Sekai’ {‘A Crumbling World’}
by girugämesh

Because it is white, it’s said it wants to be white,
because it is white something can be mixed in,
The water in the small bowl became clear,
a drop of colour silently fell into it

Before long people are tainted,
humans are stained by other humans,*
discoloring this planet we live on together,**
strangling their own necks

What does an era where every tree
gazes up at coldly towering buildings depict?

Touching the earth with corrupted hands,
kindness vanished and flowers withered,
A tomorrow without sin is murdered
by those heartless hands

Before long people are tainted,
humans are stained by other humans,*
discolouring this planet we live on together,
a crumbling world

What does what we wanted in exchange for life represent in civilization?
In this dispute of personal gain, self-interest, and egotism
what flowed was not blood but the tears of the planet,
Though we’ve only been living for a few seconds in proportion to
the billions of years since Earth was born,
We’ve become unable to undo what’s done
We are an irredeemable existence
But I knew a single unspoiled love

Though the end is near, you who are able to love will be all right

* The word “humans” is written in the lyrics, but Satoshi sings “people”.
** In Japanese the word for “star” can mean any celestial object so here it is closer to “planet”.

My school term is finally over and I can start subbing again. Thanks for this and POPLAR! I’ll start working on them.
