Amorphous ~ Versailles

「Amorphous」
Versailles

‘Amorphous’
by Versailles

I know that it’s an illusion,
Beyond the crumbling walls of sand,
to the sea of denouement that spilled forth

The distance we’ve drifted…
wouldn’t allow that history to sleep,*
it pared me down like driftwood,
but at last became gentler

I shut my eyes and sailed a boat,
started rowing toward the unilluminated darkness,
to the sea of accumulating quarrels

Born in an era of upheaval,
swallowed up by the whirlpool of history,
I want to live as intensely as you,
I won’t let anyone interfere with these feelings,
Farewell, my beloved!

The world goes on sinking, enveloped by the gentle waters,
(ushering in) tranquil days, a silent wave, a new world**

Ah…since when, I wonder?
A fragment of my unshakable dream…
you were there within it

The world goes on sinking, enveloped by the gentle waters,
I let you in unto the very bottom of my heart, the deep darkness

The expansive ocean…joined with the endless sky,
carry with them tranquil days, a silent wind

The world goes on sinking, enveloped by the gentle waters,
merely drifting and going round the sea of denouement

Swept away by the breaking waves,
Ever drowning in undying love,
I want to sink into memory this way,
Ah…into the sea where you sleep

* Here “sleep” could also mean “die”.
** Technically there’s no verb here, but structurally it doesn’t make sense in English without one.
